GIRONA / responsible for the project
Why did you decide to work in the cultural sector?
This is a funny story... it was not really a well thought decision. I studied computers at the university and was working for IBM for 16 years. But since I was 20 I was crazy about theatre and I used to go about 3 times a week to see shows, so I started to meet many people from the theatre sector. While I was working in an IBM project in Bilbao I received a phone call from the director of Teatre Lliure in Barcelona asking if I would change my job in IBM for a job in Teatre Lliure. I had to think about it for a few weeks because it was a big decision, but I finally accepted and change computers for theatre.
Is there a specific situation or event that you can remember that prompted your decision?
Of course the decision was made with many inputs, but I remember very specially having dinner with Salvador Sunyer, director of Temporada Alta -and now my boss- wich I already knew telling me he thought I would be a right person for the job and that I would have fun. I am having fun and he finally asked me six years later if I wanted to work with him.
And what is special about this kind of work for you?
Many things, but I still can't believe that I'm getting paid to see shows. My passion for theatre turned to be my job.
Is there perhaps even something like a passion for it or moments in your work that are very special to you and that you would not want to miss?
Passion remains intact, and a moment I specially enjoy is when we have a success with a show I love and have programmed.
