HELSINGØR / dancer / 2016
I grew up in a small town in Denmark close to Helsingør (Elsinore). I have always been very energetic and I've never been good at sitting still. I started doing gymnastics around the age of 2 and kept on doing that until I was around 7 years old. I hated gymnastics, and I was never good at it. Instead I started dancing, and I have been doing that ever since. I took dance classes in the town I lived in, but as I got older, I felt the need for a challenge and the need for a change. I knew all the people I trained with very well, but to be honest, I did not like the environment we had created around the training - i felt like there was a culture saying, that you should not be "too much", which made it hard for me to develop, because I spend most of my energy on worrying about what the others thought of me instead of focusing on the training and doing it the way I wanted to. When I was 14 in the year 2016, I started to take dance classes at a dance school in Copenhagen called "Hotstepper Dance Studio''. And that is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had never seen people expressing- and believing in themselves the way people did at Hotstepper. I felt so inspired and motivated. I would spend all my money, which wasn't much, on dance classes and train tickets to Copenhagen. I would come home late almost everyday, but it was all worth it. In 2018 I went to boarding school in Denmark, where I met the most amazing people, who shared my passion for performing. It was here that I realized how much dance actually meant to me, how tired I was of going to regular school and that I actually wasn't that bad at dancing. And since then, I have been working hard hard on dancing - even though I go to a gymnasium now, dance is still my main passion, it is my drive, and I definitely want to keep dancing forever. I am so excited to share my love for dance in the PPP.
